The Indian dance group Shakti
Shakti is the stage name of Loredana Ungureanu, as well as the name of the Indian dance group she founded in 2004, in Iasi, Romania.
The Indian dance group Shakti, whose first members are Romanian and Indian students (Raja Sekhar Babu and Rahim Kadavath), gives the first artistic representation during the Ateneuropa festival, at the Athenaeum of Ia?i, Romania.
From 2004 to 2008, the Shakti group participates in numerous shows and festivals on the scene of the Athenaeum de Iasi, the Student's House of Culture of Iasi, the Copou House of Culture of Iasi, the House of Culture of Pascani. She collaborates with the breakdance group Voodoo People, the contemporary dance choreographer Alice ?fai?er and the Indian classical music band Sangeet Lahari.
In 2008, the choreographer leaves for Bucharest and recreates the Shakti group, which joins the social cultural association InterAct. The Vice-President of the InterAct association organizes the first edition of Namaste India Festival in 2010, at the Village Museum of Bucharest.
Shakti group collaborates in Bucharest with ProviDanse dance group (Celebrate India 2010), the singer Ali Zaidi (Body Mind Spirit Festival 2010).
In Bucharest, the Shakti group participates in many events organized by the Indian Embassy: The Art of India (Village Museum, 2008) Celebrate India (Palatul Copiilor 2010). It participates in many festivals (the Namaste India Festival, Tea and coffee festival, AsiaFest, the Oriental Dance Festival, Body Mind Spirit Festival, the MALLtilingualism festival, Global Village), cultural events (Discover India, the release of the movie Life of Pi, International Dance Day), dance competitions (Polidansfest), advertising projects (Palmolive Orient Rituel, 2012), TV shows (the quarterfinals of the TV contest Romania dances, Morning show with Razvan and Dani, At Maruta's).
The group realizes choreographies of semi-classical (Bharatanatyam, kathak), folk (garba dances of Gujarat, Rajasthan dances, lavani dance of Maharashtra, bhangra dances of Punjab) and Bollywood Indian dance.
In 2014, the choreographer moves to Caen, France. She collaborates with the association Aditra (Éloïse Salomé, Bharata Natyam dancer and teacher), gives Indian dance classes at Sophie Berra's Dance School, organizes workshops and takes part in dance shows at Zenith Hall in Caen and Community Center Chemin Vert.
In 2015, Loredana moves to Nantes, France. She gives Indian dance classes at Blanche Burlin's Dance School, takes part in dance shows organized by Ecole des Mines of Nantes, Katorza cinema, Devananda association.
In 2016, Loredana and David Naslin create Shakti Indian dance and cultural association, with which she takes part in dance festival Les Eclats at Orvault, and open days organized by the Community centers of Breil and Dervallières.
